Melissa Katz and Nicole Jurovics have been working together as Co-Directors of the Southeast Yoga Conference (www.seyogaconference.com) (SEYC) since 2008. Through their partnership, they expanded a local, one-day event into a multi-day Conference offering yoga education provided by nationally-recognized and respected yoga teachers and including a vibrant Marketplace of health and wellness vendors – attended by yogis from throughout the United States and beyond.
Based on the success and rapid growth of the annual SEYC and consistent requests from conference attendees, Melissa and Nicole decided to offer more yoga-related events throughout the year. In 2013, Southeast Yoga Retreats (SEYR) was born! Melissa and Nicole are passionate about offering affordable yoga retreats that illuminate the Southeast yoga community and provide relaxing, enriching, and diverse experiences in some of the most beautiful regional locales.
Melissa has been involved in the SEYC since its inception in 2006 and began her conference partnership with Nicole Jurovics in 2008. She and Nicole found that they love planning yoga-related events, so subsequently expanded their partnership by founding SEYR in 2013.
In addition to her role as Co-Director of SEYC and SEYR, Melissa has been teaching yoga since 2006. She is recognized as E-RYT 500, Yoga Alliance’s highest designation based on experience and training.
Prior to her role as a yoga teacher and event planner, Melissa was a health care business consultant with Sullivan Consulting Group for ten years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University.
Melissa lives with her husband, Michael in Decatur, Georgia. She is ever-grateful to him for supporting and understanding her passion for working on SEYC and SEYR throughout the year.
Nicole has been teaching yoga since early 2004 with Decatur Yoga and Pilates as her home base, although she is fortunate to also teach at other yoga studios, gyms, and schools. She began her role as SEYC Co-Director in partnership with Melissa Katz in 2008 and co-founded SEYR with Melissa in 2013.
Nicole graduated from Guilford College in 1994. In addition to her work with the SEYC and SEYR and as a yoga teacher, Nicole has been involved in the music business ever since (and even before) her college graduation. She currently manages the career of an artist/producer and books live music for a private club as well as an annual music festival.
Nicole’s husband, Greg, is also in the music business. They have two daughters (and also recently welcomed three turtles into the family!) and live in Decatur, Georgia.
